Ninth District Opportunity's Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program assists qualifying households with a one- time payment of up to $350 to their primary heating vendor.

Households in which every member is over the age of 65 or unable to leave the homebound due to health reasons may contact the designated site for an appointment on DECEMBER 1st.

If funds remain, all income eligible households may contact the designated site for an appointment on JANUARY 4th.

The Low Income Energy Assistance Program(LIEAP) is a Federally-funded program that provides for a one-time cash payment to help eligible families pay their heating bills. This payment is usually received in February of each year.

A household that applies must:

• Have at least one U.S. citizen or non-citizen who meets the eligibility criteria.
• Meet an income test.
• Have reserves at or below $2,200.
• Be responsible for its heating bills.

Energy Assistance is important to all that receive it, but more so if someone in your home is elderly, disabled or a young child under 6 years old. These persons are especially at risk for life threatening illness of death if their home is too cold in the winter or too hot in the summer.

Project SHARE is a program of The Salvation Army Georgia Division, largely funded through the monthly donations of Georgia’s utility customers.

SHARE provides emergency bill-payment assistance to individuals and families facing a temporary crisis that threatens their home. SHARE attempts to target the most urgent need, whether it is a utility bill, a part of a rent payment or an emergency prescription.

To apply for aid, make an appointment at the SHARE Partner Agency in your county of residence. Each eligibility decision is based on the change in circumstances that caused the crisis, as determined by a local case manager. The level of assistance is based on need, available funds and what it will take to resolve the crisis.
